Abstract

Release of a person from prisons is as stressful as his commitment to the penitentiary. Each of the imprisonment phases has its  own psychological specifics. It should be noted that being imprisoned convicts have the right to qualified psychological assistance.  During preparation for release psychological assistance is of special character. It must be aimed to form convicts’ psychological readiness  for life after release. This article considers psychological readiness as the type of convicts’ activity with its own structure, that is  components, mechanisms of their formation and system-building factors. Convicts’ psychological readiness for release is estimated  from the theory of systematic genesis of activity. The author reveals peculiarities of psychological  structure of convicts’ readiness for release in different age: 19-29 years, 30-49 years, 50 years and older.
