Abstract

The process of fundamentalization of legal professional education is provided with introduction of compulsory mathematical  training into higher educational curricula. Mathematical methods are considered as a means of studying professional subjects  and acquiring general cultural and professional competencies according to educational standards of the Russian Federation. The  author establishes aims and tasks of mathematical education for lawyers, content and methods of teaching mathematics, describes  experience of using the author’s methods of teaching mathematics to first-year students majoring in Law enforcement (40.05.02) at the  Law Institute of the South Ural State University. The suggested method is based on using the elements of technology of cooperation,  problem learning technology and adaptive learning technology. In combination of elements of point assessment the given method  facilitates the formation of students’ own opinion, increases self-assessment, develops independent thinking, forms the competency  to formulate and advocate own opinion, creates conditions for communicative skills. The results of using this method reveal that high  level of motivation during the term enables the students to successfully master mathematics to the extent necessary to form general  cultural competencies and pass interim assessment of academic progress. Further research of the problem of intensive mathematical  training of law students aims at promotion of the method under study.

Keywords: fundamentalization of law education, mathematical training, competencies,  learning technologies, active methods and forms of learning.
