Abstract

Introduction. The paper describes the etymology of the concept “selfie”. The attitude to the phenomenon of “selfie” is not unambiguous: from the recognition of its new form of social interaction to attributing it to mental disorder. The purpose of the article is to experimentally identify the peculiarities of the influence of individual psychological characteristics of a person on preferences for taking selfie, cadets taken as an example. Materials and Methods. The experiment involved 110 students of 1–4 courses. To assess the differentiation of the level of claims and self-assessment, the survey was conducted according to the methods developd by O. I. Motkov, K. Rogers and R. Diamond, Leonhard-Shmishek, as well as the “Selfie” orientation questionnaire. Internet resources were examined. Results and Discussion.
